Why It Matters
Bridging the Healthcare Gap
Between the U.S. and Africa

Every year, thousands of functional medical devices are discarded in the United States, while communities in Africa lack even the most basic tools. JIBOMED exists to change that.

♻️

Turning Waste Into Tools

Hospitals discard usable equipment due to upgrades. We redirect these devices to African clinics where they are urgently needed.

🌍

Bridging Inequality

We connect unused U.S. resources to skilled healthcare professionals in Africa who deserve better, dignified care.

🎓

Supporting Graduates

Young medical professionals in Nigeria and across Africa get the tools to start practices and serve their communities.

🔬

Empowering Specialists

Trained dentists, doctors, and nurses who lack equipment get a second chance to use their skills and save lives in rural areas.

💊

Medication Access

Unexpired medications discarded by hospitals reach patients who cannot afford treatment — a critical lifeline.

📊

Full Transparency

Every donation is tracked and documented. We publish beneficiary reports so donors see exactly where their gift went.

Mechanical Lifts & Patient Transfer Equipment

One of the most critical gaps in African healthcare is the complete absence of patient lifting and transfer equipment. Nurses and caregivers are forced to manually lift patients — causing injuries to both staff and patients. These devices are life-changing.

🚨
Critical Need Across Africa

In Nigeria and across Africa, hospitals and care facilities have zero access to mechanical patient lifts. Nurses manually lift bedridden patients every day — leading to caregiver back injuries and patient falls. A single donated Hoyer Lift can serve an entire ward for years. If you have one collecting dust in a storage room, please donate it.

< style="cursor:pointer;flex-shrink:0"a onclick="nav('contact')" class="btn btn-primary">Donate a Lift Now
🏗️
Hoyer Lift
Most Needed

A full-body sling lift that safely transfers non-weight-bearing patients from bed to wheelchair, shower, or toilet. In Africa, patients with paralysis, stroke, or severe illness are manually dragged — causing wounds, pain, and caregiver injury. One Hoyer Lift transforms an entire ward.

Electric & manual models accepted
Slings & accessories welcome
Floor lifts & ceiling track systems
Used or surplus units accepted
Who has these: Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehab centers, home health agencies, assisted living centers
🪑
Sabrina Lift
Highly Needed

A passive lift designed for transferring patients who cannot bear weight, using a hammock-style sling. Ideal for repositioning patients in bed, moving between surfaces, and bathing. African nursing homes desperately need these to provide dignified care for elderly and disabled patients.

All major brands accepted
Slings in all sizes welcome
Manual & powered versions
Bariatric models especially needed
Who has these: Long-term care facilities, nursing homes, inpatient rehab units, veterans homes
🧍
Sit-to-Stand Lift
Highly Needed

Assists patients who have some weight-bearing ability to safely move from sitting to standing. Essential for stroke rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, and elderly care. In Africa, patients who could be helped to stand and walk again never get the opportunity — because this device doesn't exist in their facility.

Electric & hydraulic models
Stand-assist & Sara models
Knee pads & accessories included
Used or gently worn accepted
Who has these: Rehab hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient PT clinics, assisted living

Wheelchairs & Electric Chairs — Urgently Needed

In Nigeria and across Africa, millions of people with disabilities, stroke survivors, amputees, and the elderly have no access to wheelchairs or electric mobility devices. Many are confined to bed for their entire lives simply because no one donated a chair. A wheelchair you no longer use could restore someone's independence and dignity forever.

Most Common
🦽
Manual Wheelchair

Standard, lightweight, transport, reclining, and bariatric manual wheelchairs — all accepted. Even older models in working condition are life-changing for patients who have never owned one.

Standard & lightweight frames
Reclining & tilt-in-space models
Bariatric wide-frame chairs
Transport & folding chairs
Pediatric sizes welcome
Donate from: Hospitals, nursing homes, medical supply stores, personal use

⚡🦽
Power / Electric Wheelchair

Electric power wheelchairs give independence to people with ALS, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injuries, and severe arthritis who cannot self-propel. These are virtually nonexistent in African healthcare. A donated power chair can completely transform a person's life.

Front-wheel, mid-wheel & rear-wheel drive
Joystick & sip-and-puff controls
Tilt, recline & elevating leg rests
Chargers & batteries included
All major brands accepted
Donate from: Hospitals, rehab centers, home health agencies, families of loved ones
Needed
🛵
Mobility Scooter

3-wheel and 4-wheel electric mobility scooters give elderly and limited-mobility individuals the freedom to move independently around their community. In rural Africa, the ability to reach a clinic or market independently can mean the difference between life and death.

3-wheel & 4-wheel scooters
Indoor & outdoor models
Batteries & chargers welcome
Folding travel scooters
Heavy-duty & bariatric models
Donate from: Senior centers, assisted living, private owners, medical supply stores
💬

"In my village, I have seen stroke survivors who have not left their bed in years — not because they cannot sit, but because there is no wheelchair. One donated chair would give them back their life."

Oxygen & Respiratory Equipment

Oxygen is the single most life-saving medical resource in the world — yet hospitals across Africa run out of it daily. Patients die from pneumonia, COVID complications, asthma, and childbirth emergencies simply because there is no oxygen available. Every concentrator, cylinder, or piece of tubing you donate is a life saved.

🫁
Africa's Oxygen Crisis Is Real

Studies show that over 50% of African hospitals have unreliable or no oxygen supply. Children die from pneumonia. Mothers die in childbirth. Patients die from simple respiratory infections — all preventable with oxygen. Donate your surplus concentrators, cylinders, and accessories today.

Every Piece of Oxygen Equipment Saves a Life

Hospitals upgrade their equipment and surplus concentrators end up in storage. Home health patients recover and no longer need their units. Before you discard or return any oxygen equipment — please donate it to JIBOMED. We will get it to a patient in Africa who needs it desperately.

Unexpired Medications Can Save Lives

Millions in medications are discarded yearly by U.S. hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. We partner with these institutions to redirect those medications to patients in Africa who desperately need them.

Who Should Donate Medications?

When a patient passes away or changes medication, large quantities of unexpired, sealed medications are often discarded — even when perfectly usable. JIBOMED accepts donations from licensed facilities with proper documentation, cold-chain handling, and safe delivery to partner clinics.

Your discarded medication is someone else's only hope for survival.

"Your donation is not just equipment — it is hope, opportunity, and life. Donate today. Save lives in Africa."

— Jibril Ahmed, Founder of JIBOMED

Jibril Ahmed is a public health and environmental science professional with a lifelong dedication to improving healthcare access in underserved communities across Africa. Originally from Nigeria and now based in Denver, Colorado, he brings a rare blend of medical, military, and environmental health expertise to his humanitarian work.

His career spans over a decade of service in the Nigerian Army Medical Corps, where he served as both a dental therapy professional and paramedic — delivering critical healthcare in some of the most demanding environments imaginable. After relocating to the United States, Jibril continued serving patients directly as a healthcare worker, deepening his understanding of both the abundance of unused medical resources in the U.S. and the desperate shortages in Africa.

The inspiration behind JIBOMED is deeply personal. Growing up in Nigeria and training within the medical field, Jibril witnessed firsthand the tragedy of talented, skilled healthcare professionals unable to practice — not from lack of training, but from lack of equipment, funding, and government support.
